Does Phantump shine in the dark?

Phantump has returned to Pokémon Go and will frequently appear throughout the Halloween 2022 event. Although it will appear multiple times throughout Pokémon Go, it will predominantly be spawning in the wild during this event, celebrating its return to Halloween. While catching this Ghost-type Pokémon, can you catch a shiny version of Phantump in Pokémon Go?

Does Phantump have a shiny version in Pokémon Go?

We can confirm that Phantump does not have a shiny version right now. No matter how often you encounter this Pokémon in the wild and attempt to catch it, Phantump’s shiny version will continue to elude you. The same goes for several of the Pokémon featured in Halloween 2022, such as Pumpkaboo. However, Noibat and Galarian Yamask received their shiny versions for this event, which is great news for those who have been trying to hunt those down.

We don’t know when the shiny version of Phantump will come out. Niantic typically waits a year or two before unveiling the shiny version, giving everyone a second chance to find Phantump in the wild with increased spawns. When the announcement does come for Phantump to receive a shiny version, it will be a small footnote in a more significant event, and expect it to happen around a Halloween-themed one, especially since its debut alongside Pumpkaboo happened during the Halloween 2021 event.

When searching for Phantump, it will vary depending on the event. We recommend searching in the wild, in Field Research tasks, or seeing if it’s available in one-star raids. You will want to acquire as many Phantump candies as you can find so you can beef up your Treveant, one of the stronger Pokémon to use in the game’s Great and Ultra Leagues competitions.
