The answer to that question is yes, and here’s how you do it.

First, you’re going to want to create a Franchise mode save file. Once you do this, the game will prompt you to select how you want to save the file. If you choose it to save locally, the file will go straight to either the console’s hard drive, or an external hard drive (if you are using one) and will not be able to be move it the Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5. Rather, you will want to save it as a Cloud file. This will enable you to port over that file to the next generation of consoles once the platforms launch.

Pick the Cloud option for your next-gen save file.

Keep in mind that this will only work if you buy a new console within the same family of platforms that you currently have. If you currently have an Xbox One, you would want to buy an Xbox Series X in order to port over your original files. The same can be said for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
