The VEL 46 looks like a run-of-the-mill submachine gun at first glance, but a snappy fire rate mixed with minimal recoil makes it a potent threat in both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0. While the gun is built significantly differently in both titles, it manages to strike fear and inspire rage in those who play against it with total arena agnosticism.
For Modern Warfare 2 players, this is the ultimate run-and-gun Primary weapon. Some late nerfs to the Vaznev-9K cleared the way, and what was once an overlooked gem is now the belle of the ball. The same can be said about the Warzone 2.0 version as well – it’s better as a Sniper support over there, though, as the laser-beam accuracy provided from smart Weapon Tuning makes it one of the Call of Duty franchise’s most versatile weapons yet.
Best Vel 46 attachments and class setup in MW2
Building the VEL 46 is easy when you prioritize a few things – increasing Damage Range, keeping it quick as a whip, and keeping the recoil in check. There are many attachments that will do two of those three things, but the real synergy comes from tuning them to maximize their effectiveness.
It takes some experimentation to find the right personal balance, but we found that the following attachments provide an excellent jumping-off point. Our tunings are aiming for ease of use, but if you’re confident in your accuracy, then consider trading out some of those stats for increased speed.
VEL 46 MW2 Loadout | Attachments |
---|---|
Barrel | Lach-DX 203MM (+0.34, -0.15) |
Muzzle | Bruen Pendulum (+0.60, +0.19) |
Underbarrel | FSS Sharkfin 90 (+0.49, -0.28) |
Laser | VLK LZR 7MW (-0.35, -51.00) |
Stock | Demo RXT Stock (-4.00, -1.55) |
- Base Perks: Battle Hardened and Double Time
- Bonus Perk: Fast Hands
- Ultimate Perk: Ghost
- Lethal: Semtex Grenade
- Tactical: Stun Grenade
It’s a close race between many of the VEL 46’s best attachments, but ultimately, the VLK LZR 7MW and Lach-DX 203MM barrel serve as best-in-class building blocks. These are the foundations that the other pieces accentuate. The laser makes maneuvering through close quarters a breeze, and the barrel brings some sorely needed range to the party. Of course, the Demo RXT Stock complements the laser and keeps things snappy, while the Bruen Pendulum tightens up the gun’s recoil pattern.
It’s important to know that a good amount of vertical recoil is still present here, but controlling is that easy. Load into the Firing Range and practice on the stationary targets. Aiming ever-so-slightly downward as you shoot turns this already fearsome beast into a creature of mythological proportions.
For the perk package, Battle Hardened and Double Time are both key for mobile players. Tactical grenades are a nightmare in public matches, so reducing their effectiveness is vital to staying alive, and the latter will keep you covering ground as fast as possible, giving your enemies no breathing room while you hunt them down.
Fast Hands will keep those reload times short, and when you’re on a streak, you’ll notice every second that it saves. Ghost will keep you off of UAVs, making it even harder for the opposition to stalk you in return. The Lethal and Tactical options here are largely preference, but keeping a Semtex on hand is an easy way to force enemies out into the open when they’re trying to hide from your wrath.
Best Warzone 2.0 VEL 46 loadout: Attachments, Perks, Playstyle
While there are a number of competitive SMGs in MW2’s multiplayer, Warzone only has a two or three truly competitive options, and the VEL 46 rounds out that list. Some will argue that the ISO 45 is the superior option, but with the right setup, the MP7 clone can keep up with every other weapon on the roster.
Playstyles vary greatly in Warzone but every good strategy requires a close-range weapon, and this is one of the most dependable setups in the entire game. Players who have only used the gun in Multiplayer may be shocked to see that the Battle Royale version has even less recoil than many of the meta MP builds.

---|---|
Muzzle | Spiral V3.5 Flash Hider (+0.94, +0.39) |
Underbarrel | Edge-47 Grip (+0.80, 0.00) |
Ammunition | 4.6MM Hollowpoint (No Tuning) |
Grip | ZLR Combat Grip (+1.00, -0.45) |
Stock | Assault-60 Stock (-4.00, -2.32) |
This incarnation of the VEL 46 is all about consistency. It doesn’t have the natural long-range capabilities of the Vaznev-9K or the Lachmann Sub, so the tunings help put it on even ground with those two.
We get a major boost in accuracy from the Spiral V3.5 Flash Hider, and that’s only further boosted from the ZLR Combat Grip, Edge 47 Grip, ZLR Combat Grip, and Assault-60 Stock. The 4.6MM Hollowpoint rounds are what give it the added spice necessary to compete with the other big boys though.
Our VEL 46 loadout is best suited to support a Sniper, and for more details on how to maximize that playstyle, check out our Warzone 2.0 Ranked Play loadouts guide, where we go into more detail on how to dominate lobbies with the addition of the Signal 50.
For now, it’s enough to know that Double Time and Battle Hardened are once again crucial to staying alive. Fast Hands is also a non-negotiable if there’s a Sniper Rifle on your back, as you never want to be caught off-guard and die before you can switch weapons. Ghost is the final piece of the puzzle, as getting hawked down by a team with a UAV is an easy way to get sent back to the matchmaking queue.
Once again, there’s room for improvisation in the Lethal and Tactical spot, but a Smoke Grenade is generally recommended for most Al Mazrah classes.
That’s everything you need to know about the VEL 46’s best MW2 & Warzone 2 loadouts. If that didn’t scratch your itch for high-mobility goodness, give our Fennec 45 loadout a shot the next time you drop in.
