At the time of writing on February 10, 2024, Fortnite’s servers are having trouble with matchmaking. It’s unclear what is causing this, but it’s been flagged by the official support status account on Twitter, meaning a few hundred players likely can’t get into the game.

Issues like this are usually relatively simple to fix, but this is a Saturday, and there may not be enough staff available to get that fix sorted. Epic Games will likely pull staff in as required to ensure Fortnite is running smoothly, but for the time being, this issue persists.

We’ll update this section of the article if any more news about the downtime is shared.

The first step players should take when experiencing trouble logging into Fortnite is to check the Fortnite Status Twitter page. It notifies followers when the game is struggling with ongoing errors and server outages. Additionally, the Twitter page ensures players know of any upcoming downtime for server maintenance.

For instance, the game’s servers were down on April 11 for the v24.20 update. The servers went down early so that the update could be released and tested. This update, in particular, adds the new Attack on Titan skins to the game. A highly-anticipated part of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2. At the time of writing, Epic Games has not indicated when the servers will be back online.

If the account does not indicate any current problems, players are advised to head to Fortnite’s Server Status webpage. This webpage offers an extensive breakdown of each feature in Fortnite and which is currently down due to significant errors. You will also find bugs and outages actively being investigated and resolved.

On the off-chance that these resources don’t note any server troubles, players may need to check the strength of their internet connection. Weak connections are also known to cause issues when entering the Fortnite title screen, so it may be worth resetting your router to ensure this is not the problem. Those still unable to access the game can also reach out to Epic Games’ support team for further information on when and how you can expect to get back online.
