Monster Hunter: World – How to Create or Join Squads

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

Players can create or join a squad from the social area in Astera by speaking to the Squad Manager. Up to 50 players can be in a single squad and each player may join up to 8 different squads, but only one can be active at a time.

Squads in Monster Hunter: World are what guilds or clans are in other games. They allow you to group together with friends in an effort to more easily coordinate online sessions and join quests together. Monster Hunter: World is often much easier when played with a group of hunters, and while Capcom has provided for many different ways to cooperate, it’s not always very obvious. This guide will show you one of the key steps to ensuring you can play together with your friends; making and joining a squad.

How to Make a Squad

Anyone can create as many squads as they want. In a move I applaud, Capcom has placed very few restrictions on the creation of squads or their members. There is no cost associated with creating a squad, and you get to customize it with a few different options. If you want to create a new squad, your first step will be to visit the Gathering Hub area of Astera and speak to the Squad Manager. From here you can choose the name of your new squad, along with an emblem that you can customize slightly.

How to Join a Squad

Players can join as many of 8 squads. While you must choose one squad as your active squad, having the choice to join different groups of friends or communities is a nice touch. In order to join a squad, you must be invited to it.

To invite someone, find them in the player list and invite them to your squad. Invited players will be able to accept an invitation immediately when they get notified, or later on by visiting the Squad Manager.

Among the benefits of joining a squad is the ability to easily find squad online sessions and posted quests. This allows players to quickly join up without having to invite each other or enter in any online IDs. Squad members also get to display their active squad’s emblem next to their name and on their guild cards.
