We’ve listed titles that should be enough for those on the fence about buying a Switch to make that decision as well as for those that already have the system but are looking for their next adventure.

9 Nintendo Switch Exclusives To Get Excited About

Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Release Date: July 26, 2019

Fire Emblem

A long-running franchise, Fire Emblem is a tactical role-playing game that puts your strategy skills to the test. This most recent entry in the series puts you in the role of a teacher at the academy, where the plot unties from there. Although there’s still much to learn about the game, there’s enough intrigue and franchise strength to ensure an entertaining and fun experience.

Super Mario Maker 2

Release Date: June 28, 2019

Much like the original Super Mario Maker, players can create their side-scrolling worlds based on previous games from the Mario archive. It’s a fun, creative, and enjoyable way for players to show their appreciation for the world of Mario, but also have the chance to show off their abilities online. Yes, that’s right. You can create a world of your own and have other players go through it. What’s not to be excited about?

Release Date: 2019

A remake of an original Game Boy game in 1993, the new remaster completely retools and builds the graphics from the ground up, giving players a 3D and fully realized a world that’s still in the top-down perspective. There’s not much in the way of information for this game other than that, but it’s great news for fans of the franchise, especially those who jumped on the Zelda train with Breath of the Wild.

Luigi’s Mansion 3

Release Date: 2019

Luigi

When invited to a luxurious hotel with his brother Mario, Luigi soon finds that the hotel is not as luxurious as advertised, but another haunted outing. With his new Poltergust G-00, Luigi much eradicates the hotel of all hostile ghosts. The gameplay looks solid and rather addictive in this installment of a much-loved franchise. Not to mention, there’s a gooey version of Luigi that will help along the way named Gooigi. If that isn’t enough to get you interested, I don’t know what is.

Metroid Prime 4

Release Date: TBD

One of the more celebrated sci-fi shooters of our time, the Metroid series continues to make waves with its newest title that will release on the Switch at an undetermined time. Recently, news came out that the game would be delayed further as development was going to start from scratch with Retro Studios returning to take over in that process. Although it has been postponed for a long time, it’s safe to say that the quality of the game will be high upon release with Retro behind the development.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Release Date: 2019

Witcher 3

Okay, we know this one isn’t exclusive to Switch, so I’m sure you’re wondering why it’s here. Well, it’s just a game to get excited about, especially those that have been exclusive players of Nintendo consoles. On the technical side, The Witcher 3 will have to go through some graphical downplays to be able to work, especially handheld. Does this mean it’s not worth getting? Absolutely not. The idea of playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on an airplane or in a car or just on-the-go is a fantastic notion. Although we already have games like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on Switch, it’s a more significant accomplishment to have a game in the caliber range that is The Witcher 3. Also, for those that have already played the game on other consoles, this gives you another excuse to play through it from the beginning again.

Animal Crossing

Release Date: 2019

What’s more fun than an Animal Crossing game? An Animal Crossing game on the Nintendo Switch. The previous titles in the franchise have won critical and fan praise for its innovative and fun gameplay. Although there’s not much out there in terms of information, we trust that the game will be a good adventure.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order

Release Date: July 19, 2019

Ultimate Alliance 3

From the beloved Marvel fighting series comes the third installment exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. There are many things to be excited about – everything from the character roster, the story, and taking the addictive fighting game on the road. Just about everyone’s favorite Marvel heroes will be playable, and many favorite villains will be featured as bosses. The running roster as of now includes the likes of Black Panther, Spider-Man, Deadpool, Captain Marvel, and even Venom. It appears this game is jumping onto the success of the Infinity Saga in the MCU and rightfully so, but this time the X-Men can be involved.

Pokemon Sword and Shield

Release Date: 2019

What’s not to be excited about? It’s a new Pokemon RPG on the Nintendo Switch. Although there is a game on the Switch in the way of Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu and Eevee, fans were disappointed in the games’ lack of depth and heart that previous titles had – stating that it relied too heavily on the mobile game, Pokemon GO. The wait for a big, in-depth story adventure is finally here with the announcement of Sword and Shield. We’ve gotten a glimpse at the new starters – Scorbunny (fire-type), Grookey (grass-type), and Sobble (water-type). There will also be a return of classic Pokemon like Pikachu, as seen in the gameplay trailer.
