In Borderlands 3, when you make your way to Sanctuary, you will discover a Golden Chest. This chest contains some very powerful loot, but it can only be opened with a Golden Key. You can’t find these Golden Keys in-game; however, they are more of a promotional thing that ties in with the SHiFT Code system.

What Are Shift Codes?

Shift codes are promotional codes that Gearbox uses to give fans things like cosmetics, golden keys, and other such items. Setting up a Shift Account is very easy if you don’t have one. Just go to the Shift website, and follow the instructions. After that, make sure you go the Gaming Platforms section and connect your account that you play Borderlands with to Shift. Once that is done, you can redeem Shift Codes and Get Rewards. You can also redeem Shift Codes in-game, via the Social tab, but I find it much easier to do on the website.

Codes might be for a single Golden Key or cosmetic, or they might be for lots of them. You never know until the code is sent out.

How To Get Shift Codes

Follow Borderlands and Gearbox on Twitter or Facebook, as they can send out codes on these platforms all the time. It is also worth following Randy Pitchford on Twitter, as he tends to tweet them out as well.

You can also sign up for the Borderlands Vault Insider Program to get some codes. Once again, follow the link and go through the setup, it is straightforward to do.
