The premium currency in Rage 2 was made to change the aesthetics of your weapons and vehicles, not provide any additional gameplay support or to improve your weapon’s statistics
Rage 2 released earlier this week, and players can jump-in right to check out the neon-filled post-apocalyptic world. There’s plenty to do in the game, with a lot of world asking to get explored. Before jumping into the game properly, some players want to figure out how much a game relies on its microtransactions. Thankfully, Rage 2 does not have any form of loot boxes, so if you’re going to purchase the items in the game, you’re not going to roll the dice and hope for a small chance of getting the item you want. You’re going to get everything you pay for on screen. Here’s a break down of how all of it works.
Rage 2 Microtransactions Explained
How Much Are Rage 2’s Microtransactions?
The microtransactions in Rage 2 are broken up into four different payment choices for the game’s premium currency, called RAGE Coins. The more you’re willing to pay for at once, the more RAGE coins you’re going to get back with your initial purchase. Here’s how they break down:
- 500 RAGE Coins: $4.99
- 1,100 RAGE Coins: $9.99
- 2,500 RAGE Coins: $19.99
- 4,500 RAGE Coins: $34.99
You can choose from these four different options, but no crazy, expensive option asks you to give you more money than you paid to play the game. After you’ve purchased your RAGE Coins, you can take them to the premium market place to purchase exclusive skins and items.
What Can You Buy With RAGE Coins?
When you’re in the premium menu, you’re going to find a wide variety of weapon skins available for you to purchase. These skins go on to your favorite weapons, and they make them stand out during combat. However, none of these weapon skins modify how the game gets played. Buying one of them from the premium store will not improve your weapon’s statistics or improve your overall gameplay experience. They are purely aesthetic.
There are items available in the premium store you can purchase. These items are found throughout the game as you play through the game’s campaign, but you can choose to buy them earlier if you want to have access to them at an earlier time. You can also use the game’s standard currency to pay for these items.
There’s no way for you to acquire RAGE Coins outside of purchasing them from the game’s premium store. You have to use real money if you want to have access to RAGE Coins. This feature could change in the future as the game’s developers, id Software and Bethesda, have big plans for the game, post-launch. There’s going to be more weapon skins and items in the premium market, so make sure to keep an eye out for significant updates to Rage 2 for the next few months.
