In Risk of Rain 2, the character you play is essential. It dictates your playstyle, and success will come from doing something you are comfortable with. Will you opt for the deadly Huntress, fierce Mercenary, or powerful Engineer? We will, of course, keep this guide updated as more unlocks are discovered, and as new characters are added to the game.

Some of the characters will be a bit of a grind to get (looking at you, Engineer), while others like the Artificer and Mercenary will require some luck. They all come with their own unique sets of abilities and play in very different ways. As such, it will be worth unlocking them all, as they are all great fun to play, and come with their strengths and challenges.
The best runs in games like Risk of Rain 2 happen when you know not only your character well, but also the characters that other people play. Learning the strengths and weaknesses of enemies and allies is key, so be sure to spend some time playing with all of them!
