Throwback Challenge 2020: Hoenn Special Research and Rewards in Pokémon Go

The Hoenn Throwback Challenge will begin in Pokémon Go on May 15 and last until May 22. Much like the other Throwback Challenges, the rewards will center on Pokémon from the selected region, in this case, Hoenn.

Step 1

• Catch a Rock-type Pokémon – Stardust 500
• Catch 3 Fire, Grass or Water-type Pokémon – 10 Poké Balls
• Johto Throwback Challenge make-up reward – 5 Rare Candies

Rewards: Rare Candy, Nosepass encounter, 2 Golden Razz Berry

Step 2

• Catch a Fighting-type Pokémon – Stardust 500
• Power up a Pokémon – 5 Pinap Berries
• Make 3 Nice Throws – Lairon encounter

Rewards: Rare Candy, Machop encounter, 2 Silver Pinap Berry

Step 3

• Catch an Electric-type Pokémon – Stardust 500
• Send a gift to a friend – 1 Incense
• Make 3 Curveball throws – Wailmer encounter

Rewards: Rare Candy, Manectric encounter, 2 Golden Razz Berry 

Step 4

• Catch a Fire-type Pokémon – Stardust 500
• Earn a Candy by walking your buddy – Trapinch encounter
• Catch 3 weather boosted Pokémon – Bagon encounter

Rewards: Rare Candy, Torkoal encounter, 2 Silver Pinap Berry

Step 5

• Catch a Normal-type Pokémon – Stardust 500
• Make 3 great throws – Shedinja encounter
• Power up a Pokémon 3 times – 10 Great Balls

Rewards: Rare Candy, Linoone encounter, 2 Golden Razz Berry 

Step 6

• Catch a Flying-type Pokémon
• Catch a Water, Electric, or Bug-type Pokémon – 10 Ultra Balls
• Battle another trainer – Absol encounter

Rewards: Rare Candy, Altaria encounter, 2 Silver Pinap Berry

Step 7

• Catch a Psychic-type Pokémon
• Catch a ghost-type Pokémon – 5 Revives
• Give your buddy 3 treats – 1 Charged TM

Rewards: Rare Candy, Claydol encounter, 2 Golden Razz Berry

Step 8

• Catch a Water-type Pokémon
• Take a snapshot of a water-type Pokémon – Clamperl encounter
• Evolve a Pokémon – 1 Star Piece

Rewards: Rare Candy, Whiscash encounter, two Silver Pinap Berry

Step 9

• Claim reward – 3,000 XP
• Claim reward – 3,000 XP
• Claim reward – 3,000 XP

Rewards: 10 Rare Candies and Groudon encounter

Lotad, Slakoth, Nincada, Skitty, Sableye, Mawile, Trapinch, Feebas, and Clamperl will hatch from 7km Eggs during the event, so make sure you are getting in those walking sessions when you can.
