As of this writing, 28 unique Assassin’s Creed games have been released since the original came out in 2007, with 12 of them being mainline titles, and the rest being spin-off games. There are more on the way, with Assassin’s Creed: Mirage, and upcoming projects like the Assassin’s Creed: Infinity platform. There are also Assassin’s Creed games that have no relation to the franchise, other than using its name for branding purposes, such as The Tower: Assassin’s Creed, and they won’t be included below, as they are not part of the series.

When a franchise becomes as big as Assassin’s Creed, there’s a good chance it will receive spin-off titles that are separate from the mainline series. Many of these titles were created for mobile devices and handheld consoles, and their quality often reflects the weaker hardware’s limitations. Notably, this list doesn’t include the ports of existing games, some of which are loose adaptations of storylines from the mainline games. The spin-off titles in the Assassin’s Creed series are:

  • Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Chronicles (2008)
  • Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines (2009)
  • Assassin’s Creed II: Discovery (2009)
  • Assassin’s Creed: Project Legacy (2010)
  • Assassin’s Creed: Multiplayer Rearmed (2011)
  • Assassin’s Creed: Recollection (2011)
  • Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation (2012)
  • Assassin’s Creed: Pirates (2013)
  • Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry (2014)
  • Assassin’s Creed: Memories (2014)

The upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Infinity could mark a huge departure for the series, as it’s a live-service platform that will act as a hub for future games, including the multiplayer modes. This means that the future of the franchise could be broken down into updates for Assassin’s Creed: Infinity and the age of the standalone releases that have happened for over fifteen years might be coming to an end.
