Everything Revealed During The Destiny 2 The Final Shape Showcase 2023

During the Destiny 2 The Final Shape Showcase 2023, Bungie revealed a new cinematic trailer for the expansion, the final expansion for Destiny 2. They confirmed that players will go through the portal left by The Witness in the Lightfall storyline to enter The Pale Heart of The Traveler.

The Witness has shaped the interior of The Pale Heart based on its experiences and wants. However, Guardians will begin to reshape the location as they enter because The Traveler will react to their shared experiences from throughout the Destiny franchise.

The space evolves from a beautiful area reminiscent of the first locations in Destiny to a dark region where The Witness resides and is attempting to maintain control. To enforce that control, The Witness is using Stasis and Strand-powered Subjugators, a new enemy type. They control the battlefield by hitting players with attacks from afar while other enemies bombard them upfront.

Each Class is getting a new Subclass and Super in The Final Shape. These fill in areas where Classes are lacking, giving Warlocks a powerful Scorch Super that provides a tiny Scorch helper for an entire fireteam, Hunters get yet another epic Arc Super, and Titans get a massive Void Axe that other players can pick up after it lands to inflict even more damage.

New and returning Exotics in Destiny 2 The Final Shape include Tessalation, Red Death, a weapon that uses the power of The Traveller, and so many more. There will also be new weapon sub-types that are built to provide support or additional damage in ways never seen before in the game.

One thing that Bungie’s narrative team touched upon was Cayde-6 as a guide in The Pale Heart. It’s unclear how he’s back, but given the nature of The Traveler’s power of creation, it seems likely that he’s been resurrected thanks to the shared experiences of Guardians and the Vanguard, though whether he can exist outside of The Pale Heart isn’t known.

Destiny 2 The Final Shape will be released on February 27, 2024. The Bungie Store is currently experiencing big queues but there is a Collector’s Edition available for fans to buy.

Destiny 2 Season of the Witch Revealed

Alongside The Final Shape expansion for Destiny 2, players were also treated to a look at Destiny 2 Season of the Witch. The season starts on August 22, 2023, and focuses on Xivu Arath, one of the gods of the Hive. Players will have to take part in a new seasonal activity to earn seasonal progression in, a selection of Exotic missions, and a new PvP map with a Vex low-fi vibe.

Perhaps the most exciting news regarding PvP is that a new Relic-focused mode will be introduced to the Crucible. It sees players grab items from around the map and push to get them to a goal in order to earn points.

Another incredibly exciting piece of information about Season of the Witch is that it will include Crota’s End. This raid is a Destiny original that players have been asking for a version of in Destiny 2 for some time. Soon they’ll be able to take part in it once more and unlock some incredible exclusive gear.

What Comes After Destiny 2 The Final Shape

Once The Final Shape has been released for Destiny 2, Bungie is moving onto what it’s calling Episodes. They’re standalone episodes that are full of content and can be experienced in any order by all players. These episodes will double down on the weapons, armor, and story that players get. However, it sounds like they’re replacing Seasons, meaning there will be fewer major updates to the game each year.
