Nioh 2, Team Ninja’s sequel to 2017 original, acts as a prequel to the events of the first game. You play a Yokai hunter who hunts down demons and spirits but hides a dark secret of their own. Of Yokai descent themselves, they lose control of their spirit during a fight and are saved only by a passing merchant who possesses strange stones that can help control the Yokai. From there, the adventure begins as the two team up to try and find more stones, making plenty of friends and enemies along the way.

If you are wondering how long it will take to finish the game, producer Fumihiko Yasuda recently revealed some interesting information while talking to GameSpot. The game contains around the same number of missions as the first game, with each one happening in a self-contained level, much like the first game. “When I played the game this past January, it took me 55 hours.”, Yasuda said.

He also points out that how long it will take to finish will depend on the skill of the player. “When we looked at how long it took for the players to complete Nioh 1, it depended on the player, how good they were, how they played it”.

Given Yasuda’s familiarity with the game, the 55 hours run time could easily be extended for your first run-through, as you explore and discover elements of each level and try to figure out the violent puzzles that are the boss fights.

The only detail not covered by Yasuda was whether his run included the game’s sidequests or just the main storyline. If his 55-hour run didn’t include all the sidequests, then you can expect to take even longer to finish the game.
