In a world of games releasing under console exclusivity, Disney Dreamlight Valley is a rare gem. I wouldn’t be surprised if Gameloft released a statement tomorrow letting us know we can now play Disney Dreamlight Valley with a potato.

However, with so much information circling around about the game’s supported platforms, different editions, and multiple release dates, it’s easy to get things mixed up. This guide aims to answer any questions you might have about DDV’s Mac support, including its cryptic Arcade Edition.

Is Disney Dreamlight Valley Playable on Mac?

Yes, you can now enjoy Disney Dreamlight Valley on Mac. I say now because that wasn’t the case when early access was first released in September 2022.

When Early Access for Dreamlight Valley began earlier this year, Mac was not among the supported platforms, and only on November 29, the confirmation came via a post on Twitter that this version would arrive on December 6, alongside the big Update 2 for the one and only Disney cozy life simulator.

The game will continue to be playable on Mac when Disney Dreamlight Valley leaves early access. If you’re interested and haven’t joined the DDV train yet, you can purchase the Founder’s Pack for $29.99 through the Mac App Store. To play it, having any M1 Apple Mac device, or newer, with at least macOS 11 installed is a must.

What is Disney Dreamlight Valley: Arcade Edition

During Disney Dreamlight Valley’s October Showcase, a game mode called Arcade Edition was announced. This version of DDV will be released on December 5, 2023. But honestly, it’s not that easy to grasp what it’s all about.

Gameloft has confirmed that the Arcade Edition is a bundle including the base game and the paid expansion, A Rift in Time, all in one. The main difference is that the Premium Shop and Star Paths won’t be available in the Arcade Edition due to Apple’s restrictions. The devs also promise updated UI and upgraded touch-screen play.

Because of its limitations, Disney Dreamlight Valley: Arcade Edition will not allow cross-save with platforms outside the Apple Arcade ecosystem. No Nintendo, PC, or Xbox save files will work here. To be absolutely clear: not even your usual Mac saves will work in DDV’s Arcade Edition.
