Another Black Friday, another dominant showcase by Nintendo.

A new report from CNN Business confirmed today that the company’s Switch system managed to dominate Black Friday sales again this year. Analysts for Wedbush Securities confirmed the system’s success over the course of the weekend, though it didn’t provide specific sales numbers.

As in the year prior, Nintendo offered a special package deal with its Switch system, with a free digital copy of the hit racer Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Wedbush Securities’ team noted this was a successful move, creating an “attractive value” to consumers.

This should be good news for the company as the holidays grow closer, with more Switch (and Switch Lite) systems likely to fly off shelves alongside recent game releases like Pokemon Sword and Shield. Marked-down favorites like Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild should also be a hit with customers.

Game-wise, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was also a top-seller over the weekend. This was mainly due to many retailers marking the game down in price to a more reasonable value of $50 (or cheaper, like Walmart’s $38), instead of the usual $60. It also came bundled with some PlayStation 4 and PS4 Pro models.

Wedbush also made note that several sports titles were big performers over the sales event, including EA Sports releases like FIFA 20 and Madden NFL 20, as well as 2K Sports’ NBA 2K20. Again, lowered prices likely played a big factor in that.

As far as who the big winner will be this holiday season in its entirety, it’s too soon to tell. But sales of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are likely to be impacted by the pending arrival of new systems from Sony and Microsoft next year—leaving the Nintendo Switch, and its recent Switch Lite, to be the likely champ.
