New Trailer Shows Alien: Isolation for Nintendo Switch, Out Dec. 5, in Action

Nintendo has revealed that Alien: Isolation will release for the Nintendo Switch on Dec. 5, just in time to frighten us all over the holiday season. A new trailer shows the port in action, and a bevy of new screenshots have been added to the the updated eShop page.
Creative Assembly originally developed Alien: Isolation, which released in October 2014 for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One; Feral Interactive, known for ports including GRID Autosport for Switch and Shadow of the Tomb Raider for MacOS & Linux, is handling the Switch port.
While the new gameplay trailer looks great, seemingly pushing the Switch to its technical max, we won’t know how the game actually performs for a few more weeks. Previous first-person games, like Doom and Wolfenstein II: New Colossus, have played relatively well, with frame drops and stutters at an acceptable—though not always ideal—level. The slower, more calculated pace of Alien: Isolation may also help with performance.
Based around the 1979 film Alien, helmed by sci-fi mastermind Ridley Scott, the game puts you into the perspective of Amanda Ripley, Ellen Ripley’s daughter, who is working in the same part of space from which her mother disappeared 15 years previously. When the flight recorder from her mother’s ship is discovered, Amanda goes to Sevastopol Station to learn what she can about her mother’s disappearance, only to find herself face-to-face with the same alien threat her mother encountered.
Isolation uses incredible interior design, lighting, atmosphere, and sound design to put the player in situations of extreme tension. Players explore Sevastopol Station, attempt to discover what went wrong there, and use their skill and wits to avoid ending up as a snack for the Xenomorph.
The Switch version includes all seven DLCs, including “Last Survivor,” a recreation of Ellen Ripley’s final mission on board the Nostromo. For those thinking about downloading directly from the eShop, the game will have a file size of 17.7 GB.
