For the first time, Gamescom will hold a pre-show, produced and hosted by The Game Awards’ Geoff Keighley. While we’ve received a vague, official statement by the organization of the event, we have confirmed that Death Stranding is among them.

In a teaser shared on Twitter a few hours ago, Geoff Keighley attached a quick animation of the logo for the Opening Night Live. Keen-eyed fans discovered that a part of the animation has Death Stranding Cliff’s face in it.

“In just two weeks I’ll be in Germany to host Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, which will stream around the world!” shared Keighley. He did not mention the teaser. “First details tomorrow (today, ndR) on the incredible lineup of premieres and announcements.”

Now, we learned that “several stars from the games industry will appear on stage. Today it is also confirmed that visionary game director Hideo Kojima will make a special live appearance during the show to present a new look at Death Stranding.”

Gamescom’s website provided an official statement, sharing that “more than 15 publishers set to debut world premiere content and make announcements during Gamescom Opening Night Live.”

“Some of the publishers scheduled to make announcements and debut world premiere content,” added the website, “include: 2K, Activision, Bandai Namco Entertainment, Bungie, Capcom, Electronic Arts, Epic Games, Google Stadia, Koch Media/Deep Silver, Private Division, Sega, Square Enix, Sony Interactive Entertainment, THQ Nordic GmbH, Ubisoft and Xbox Game Studios.”

Several independent game studios are also making announcements. We’re going to receive more information about those reveals as they get shared in the coming days, closer to the event.
