Nintendo Switch Lite Releases On September 20, Cost $200

When is a Switch not a Switch? That is the quest Nintendo didn’t care about when they saw room to create the Switch Lite, a new version of the top-selling console. The Nintendo Switch Lite arrives in shops on September 20 and costs $200.
The new, smaller, Switch Lite has a 5.5-inch screen and a resolution of 720p. It’s a handheld only system, with no dock, no TV connectivity via USB-C, and no detachable Joycons or rumble function. While it may look like the Switch Lite is going to take over from the 2DS/3DS, Nintendo has said that those products will continue with the company’s full support going forward.
One area of improvement that the Switch Lite has over the standard model is improved battery performance, boasting 20-30% longer life from a full charge. You could also consider the fact that the 5.5-inch screen, compared to the standard models 6.5-inch screen. But the matching resolution provides a sharper image.
The Switch Lite comes with a 32G of internal storage, a MicroSD slot, a headphone jack, USB-C connection for charging, and a similar button layout. It will have Wi-Fi, NFC, and players can connect extra controllers to the device. A true D-Pad setup has replaced the set of four buttons on the left-hand side.
The Switch Lite is being aimed firmly at those who are looking for a more mobile option for their gaming, and potentially to tempt people who already own a Switch into getting a new model designed for gaming on the go. The sturdy build quality and complete unit design make it an attractive option for those who fear potentially losing a Joycon while out in the world. Nintendo plans on facilitating this with an easy way to transfer game save data from one device to the other. The Switch Lite is undoubtedly shaping up to be a desirable option.
