Red Dead Online Announced With Beta Coming in November

Since the announcement of Red Dead Redemption 2, there has been the sound of gamers all over the world collectively wishing for Red Dead Online. It seemed like a certainty that Rockstar would seek to replicate the massive success of GTA Online. It was confirmed today that this is indeed what is going to happen.

Red Dead Online is an evolution of the classic multiplayer experience in the original Red Dead Redemption, blending narrative with competitive and cooperative gameplay in fun new ways. Using the gameplay of the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 as a foundation, Red Dead Online will be ready to be explored alone or with friends, and will also feature constant updates and adjustments to grow and evolve this experience for all players.

Due to launch in November 2018, initially, as a beta, Rockstar’s plan is that the public beta will allow them to work out any problems that such a large mode brings. Red Dead Redemption 2 will launch on October 26, for PS4 and Xbox. As yet, no PC release is confirmed.

If we look at GTA Online we can get a good idea as to what Rockstar will try to do with Red Dead Online, but I am sure we all have our own dreams for it. Personally I really hope that we are able to rob trains as part of a gang. I’m not sure how cars will translate over to the Old West, maybe we will be able to go to the blacksmith and get some fancy custom shoes on our horse? Perhaps we will be able to sell unguents and tinctures from the back of a cart? No matter what we end up doing, I really look forward to the cinematic videos that people end up making, as Red Dead Redemption 2 has been looking glorious in the trailers so far. Despite sometimes feeling like I am getting too old for hype, I have to say; I am going all in on this one.
