The battle royale genre is not exactly shy of contenders at the moment. The current kings, Fortnite and PUBG, have shown that the right game can be a bit of a money spinner for developers who can bring something interesting to the table. Techland has decided to step into the ring, bringing battle royal style fun to their parkour and zombie game, Dying Light.

The game will feature twelve players, as they contend with zombie hordes and each other. You’ll have to find weapons and ammo, track down blood samples, and master the game’s parkour system if you hope to survive. Many of the current battle royale games focus almost exclusively on the idea of player based threats. Dying Light hopes that the addition of high threat zombie enemies will help the game to stand out in what is fast becoming a crowded genre.

Our aim is both to satisfy players’ demands for competitive PvP gameplay and to explore new directions for Dying Light’s multiplayer experience. Since Bad Blood was inspired by fan requests, we want player feedback to be an integral part of our development. That’s why we’re inviting Dying Light fans to take part in our Global Playtest. They can play the expansion early and share their thoughts, knowing their feedback will have a major influence on Bad Blood’s development.

The game will initially launch into Early Access for $19.99 on Steam, switching to a free to play model at full release. Two global playtests are also planned, from August 25 to August 26, and from September 1 to September 2. You can register for the playtests at the Dying Light website. An exact release date for the Early Access version of the game is not yet known, but we will keep you up to date as we learn more.
