BioWare has offered an update on the status of its projects, which surprisingly involve a new Mass Effect game.

The Mass Effect series had been put on hold after the lackluster Andromeda, which had its expansions cancelled and the developer BioWare Montreal shuttered.

“As busy as we are with Anthem, there’s a lot more going on at BioWare. A couple of weeks ago it was once again N7 Day. It’s one of my favorite times of the year – a day when people around the world share their experiences with Mass Effect,” a blog post says.

“It’s so inspiring to know that there are so many fans of the series out there that are enjoying the games we’ve made, and hoping that we’ll make more.

We announced one of the things we’ve done recently (a 4k enhancement to Mass Effect: Andromeda on Xbox One) but as we alluded to in our N7 Day video, that was just a small part of the plans we’re making for Mass Effect going forward.”

While it’s not a hint as big as the one about Dragon Age, which is set to receive news in December, it’s sure enough a surprise to see the studio address so directly the series at this stage of its lifecycle.

We’re eager to learn more about “the plans” for the franchise, but also know that it’ll take a while with Anthem releasing in February 2019 and set to be supported for years.
