Blackout, the first battle royale game mode in Call of Duty history, is rumored to feature 100 players in a single lobby, according to a listing by UK video game retailer GAME.

In a description of the mode, GAME said Blackout will be one player against 99 others. While it may simply be a mistake or an assumption on the part of GAME, it very well may end up being reality.

The exact number of players in Blackout lobbies have not been confirmed by Treyarch, but the number was generally believed to be less than 100. The map size hasn’t been confirmed either, however Treyarch did say the map is 1,500-times the size of Nuketown, a map famous for being smaller than others.

In the most popular battle royale games, 100 players is the standard. Whether it be Fortnite, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds or H1Z1, there are 100 players battling for the big win.  It would be odd if Blackout didn’t follow this standard, but it also doesn’t necessarily have to copy other battle royale experiences.

The problems players will likely run into with 99 others in a lobby will be the graphics and servers. While it’s possible Treyarch figured something out to avoid these issues, it’s hard to imagine there wouldn’t be at least some form of lag with that many players in Call of Duty.

Whatever the lobby size, we will find out for sure in less than two weeks. The Blackout private beta will begin on Sep. 10 on PlayStation 4 and will feature Solo, Duo, and Quads, according to Activision.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on Oct. 12, 2018.
