The next entry in the Fire Emblem series, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, was revealed earlier today at Nintendo’s E3 2018 Nintendo Direct. And this time, the main series is coming to Nintendo Switch.

The game is set to feature larger battles than ever before, with Three Houses’ story and gameplay trailer showing off unit formations around a main character. Nintendo also gave us a first look at the setting for the game, as well as some new gameplay mechanics. Expect lush settings, gorgeous 3D graphics, and a character-driven story similar to other Fire Emblem titles.

In particular, players will be able to zoom down from a top-down view and watch as units fight one another on the battlefield. Battles feature plenty of friendly and enemy combatants alike fighting against one another, making Fire Emblem: Three Houses one of the most immersive games from the tactical RPG series in the franchise’s history.

Nintendo’s E3 2018 Nintendo Direct unveiled several other noteworthy games, including Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for Dec. 7, 2018. Several Fire Emblem characters from the series’ roster are returning, including Roy, Marth, and Robin. It remains unclear for now if Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will have any connectivity between the two games, such as shared amiibos.

In the meantime, not much is known about Fire Emblem: Three Houses, but the gameplay shown offered a brief glimpse into the game’s world. Expect Fire Emblem: Three Houses to arrive on Nintendo Switch for spring 2019.
