Sony showed off new footage of Ghost of Tsushima during its E3 2018 showcase, preceded by a musician playing a shakuhachi ahead of the new trailer.

The game features eye-popping colors and an excess of visceral combat as Jin explores the countryside in the new slice of gameplay, taking down enemies with swift motions of his sword, using the occasional acrobatics to jump from roof to roof. At one point he traverses a building’s roof to drop in unexpectedly on an enemy for a hearty helping of death from above. It’s a brutal game to be sure as swords fit themselves all the way down enemy throats, with the vibe of a classic samurai flick to go along with it.

If you’ve ever enjoyed games like the PlayStation classic Bushido Blade, you’ll likely feel right at home with the swordfighting excellence seen in Ghost of Tsushima

Ghost of Tsushima takes place in the year 1274 on the Japanese island of Tsushima. Players control a protagonist named Jin as he fights to push back an oncoming Mongol invasion.

Jin is one of the last surviving samurai in the world, and as such, it’s up to him to go beyond the trappings of being a samurai to create an entirely new way of fighting, called the way of the Ghost, to fight for Japan’s freedom.

Ghost of Tsushima is a PlayStation exclusive. Unfortunately, a release date wasn’t shown off during Sony’s presentation, so we’ll be left waiting a little while longer for additional information about when we might expect it.
