Remedy Entertainment’s newest project is called Control, and it was just revealed Monday night during Sony’s E3 2018 press conference.

The trailer opens with an unnamed female protagonist wandering through a strange building that seems to constantly shift into new and unknown patterns. It doesn’t make a lot of sense at first, but 505 Games describes it as such: “After a secretive agency in New York is invaded by an otherworldly threat, you become the new Director struggling to regain Control.” We see what you did there, description.

The footage shown off today featured a selection of what looks to be psychic abilities our heroine can use to throw debris and bits of the game’s environments at anyone who assails her, but there’s also the copious usage of what looks like bullet time on offer as well. Modifiable loadouts have been confirmed, as well as what the developer has described as an “unpredictable world.”

Originally codenamed “P7,” the shooter carries all the hallmarks of an unmistakably Remedy-drenched game, with a visual style that hearkens back to the developer’s history with games like Alan Wake and Quantum Break. It looks like one of the more unique titles shared during the E3 conferences over the past couple of days, for sure, despite the fact that we don’t know as much about the title as we’d like.

The surreal shooter is making its way to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2019. There’s no word on a firm release date beyond the year right now, however.
