When Square Enix revealed that it was putting on an E3 show this year, players had high expectations to see lots of announcements from long-running series and maybe even some footage from big new games.

Sadly, the show was just a half hour long and it didn’t have much in the way of surprises or new content.

Square’s show was voiced over by the legendary Keith David, so it got off to an epic start. After a short intro, the videos of upcoming titles began.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

New footage of Lara Croft’s next adventure started off the show with the reveal of a brand new cutscene from the upcoming title. “Becoming one with the jungle” will be important in the new game, and the developers showed it off in some new gameplay footage as well. It showed Lara systematically taking down enemy soldiers with efficiency, and becoming the Tomb Raider she is destined to be.

Final Fantasy XIV x Monster Hunter

Square’s ongoing MMO in the Final Fantasy series got some love, highlighting the game’s upcoming 4.3 patch, Under the Moonlight. The big announcement was a crossover event coming this summer to FF14 with Monster Hunter. The trailer showed FF characters taking on a Rathalos from the Monster Hunter series.

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit

Another new trailer was shown for the upcoming game in the Life is Strange universe. It will be completely free to play and is available at the end of June.

Just Cause 4

Also revealed yesterday, Just Cause 4’s new trailer revealed the game’s fictional location of Solis. The game will feature extreme weather like tornadoes, lightning, sandstorms, and blizzards. Rico’s grapple will be fully customizable and the game retains its insane open-world gameplay. Just Cause 4 releases on Dec. 4.

The Quiet Man

A trailer for a brand new game called The Quiet Man showed off a deaf character beating up some bad guys in an alley. The short video said to expect more in August for the game due to come to PS4 and Steam.

Kingdom Hearts III

A slightly different version of yesterday’s Frozen trailer showed off some exciting stuff from the upcoming sequel, which is slated for a Jan. 29, 2019 release. This trailer closed out the surprisingly short showing from Square.
