As Miitomo shuts down, Nintendo introduces a new browser-based Mii Maker

We’re slowly approaching Miitomo’s shutdown day, and though we already knew it was coming, that certainly doesn’t make things hurt any less.
But there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, especially when it comes to creating adorable Mii characters that represent our real-world selves. There’s a new browser-based alternative to the extensive editor in Miitomo coming from Nintendo that’ll serve as our new Mii Maker tool.
The new editor will launch by the end of May, as announced via in-game message from Miitomo on April 30. “With the end of Miitomo service, it will no longer be possible to create or edit Mii characters using Miitomo,” the announcement said, “but we are planning to add a feature in late May 2018 which will enable you to create and edit Mii characters for your Nintendo account via your web browser of choice.”
There would also be upcoming “system migration maintenance,” the statement said, happening from the day Miitomo shuts down until late May. You won’t be able to change or edit the Mii attached to your Nintendo Account, and changes will not be applied if you do mess about with it.
The new tool will allow you to make a brand new Mii if you’d like, but you can still import the old one you played around with in Miitomo as well. You won’t, however, get to bring the various cool costumes you unlocked in Miitomo with you to your Nintendo Account, which feels like a real bummer.
How will the new Mii Maker work, and how extensive will it be? We’ll have to find out later this month. Miitomo will official shut down at 12am PT on May 9.
