Puzzle Fighter could be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, according to a new PEGI listing in Europe for the game.

The game began its life as Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, a parody of Super Street Fighter II Turbo, where players control “gems” that drop from the screen in a Tetris-like map area where you must eliminate all gems of the same color to clear your board. Combining rules from games like Puyo Puyo 2 and including characters from various Capcom franchises, it’s a popular spin on the puzzle game with appearances by Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, and Sakura from Street Fighter in the original 1997 version and even characters like Darkstalkers’ Morrigan and Night Warriors’ Hsien-Ko.

While there’s been no official announcement from Capcom just yet, the European rating could refer to an upcoming PC and console port of the franchise’s smartphone revival from November 2017.

The mobile version acted as a successor to the original game and was reborn as a free-to-play version with additional characters like Dead Rising’s Frank West. You can play with others around the world, earn new characters, and collect Ranking Points to make it to the top of global leaderboards with your favorite Capcom fighters. If the console and PC port is indeed coming, it’ll likely be the same kind of Puzzle Fighter seen with smartphones.

It’s been quite a while since fanfare was made about Puzzle Fighter, so any new iteration aside from the smartphone version would indeed be appreciated. Perhaps this is a new version of the game that has yet to be released. Either way, we’ll keep an eye out for what’s coming next.
