Google is Working on a Gaming Streaming Service Called ‘Yeti,’ Report States

Between YouTube Gaming and the company’s Google Play store, Google isn’t particularly shy about courting the gaming industry. Now, the tech giant may have its sights on a streaming service for playing games too, according to a report from The Information.
The project, codenamed “Yeti,” would let users subscribe to a gaming library that can be used to stream games either over the internet or through a remote device, the report claims. The project was originally designed to work through Chromecast, but The Information also hints that Google has experimented with building a game console and controller purchasable specifically for using the service.
Google’s VP of product management and VP of engineering are both spearheading the initiative, although what “Yeti” will look like remains a mystery. However, the gaming community may have answers sooner rather than later. “Yeti” has reportedly been in development for two years, and Google originally considered launching the program around Holiday 2017 before delaying its release. So a full launch for the service may be in store for the near future.
