Yume Nikki: Dream Diary’s second trailer reveals brief glimpses of the game

Yume Nikki: Dream Diary is an upcoming remake of the original RPG Maker 2003 title Yume Nikki that’s rebuilt from the ground up. We’ve only seem glimpses of the game thus far in brief flashes, but there’s a new trailer out now that offers a bit more insight into what to expect out of the remake.
The trailer is a bit strange, with some brief sections featuring text imparting knowledge we already had about the upcoming game. For instance, interspersed with some creepy footage, it explains how the original creator, Kikiyama, was involved with the entire process and how ideas and character designs that have lain dormant for 16 years will now be surfacing in the game. It seems like they’re really trying to stress this fact, but it is a great selling point, after all.
The original Yume Nikki places players in control of a young girl named Madotsuki who explores surreal dream worlds with bizarre sights and sounds. You never know just what’s around the corner, but that’s part of the game’s charm.
Yume Nikki: Dream Diary is heading to PC on Steam and via Playism in both English and Japanese on Feb. 23. It’ll be $19.99, but if you still haven’t played the original game, you can nab that on Steam for free right now. You’re definitely going to want to see how things evolve.
