We’ve already reported about Remedy considering new stories for established franchises from its portfolio a few hours ago, but it seems that this will be the way the studio will followRemedy Really Wants To Do Alan Wake 2, And Will Do It Sooner Or Later in the future and not on some of the game it has already released.

As revealed by CEO Tero Virtala, Alan Wake 2 and Quantum Break 2 will depend on Microsoft, since it has published both the titles and in the case of QB even owns the intellectual property.

“Considering our history… Alan Wake was really interesting but it was a collaboration with Microsoft. Due to certain reasons, it never got a sequel,” he told GamesIndustry International.

“Quantum Break, also, we put a lot of effort into creating the world, the characters, the stories, but still it was Microsoft IP. They decided not to take it further.”

It’s clear that with Control the Finnish studio now wants to have the full, well, control over the things it does and wants to have the freedom not only to simply create sequel but also to explore, whenever it feels the need and sees there’s room to do it, the IPs it creatively invests so much on.

And, in any case, Microsoft… you should really help Remedy do a new Alan Wake game.
