PlayStation Vita Releases Mysterious Firmware 3.68 For North American Users

PlayStation Vita is said to have been discontinued in several territories, from Japan to Europe, but apparently, someone at Sony is still working on it in order to implement more security and stability fixes.
A new update has been released just a few hours ago, bringing the PlayStation Vita firmware to the 3.68 version. The Japanese platform holder hasn’t provided any details about what this new firmware actually does, which is quite the norm now.
In these cases, especially when a hardware is basically discontinued or going to be discontinued anytime soon, such kind of updates is put into place to prevent piracy or block exploits found by the community of hackers and users.
We’re told this firmware is being released specifically for the North American users, so other players around the world could probably not even notice its launch anytime.
“This update is for PS Vita systems purchased in North America. DO NOT update your PS Vita system using this website if you purchased your system outside of North America,” claims Sony in the notes.
Interestingly, the official PlayStation website hasn’t even been updated as a result of the fix, claiming that the latest patch still is the 3.67, which was released back on November 28, 2017 (for PlayStation Vita TV as well).
