How to play Roblox on Oculus Quest 2

Experience Roblox games in VR.

When you hear Roblox, your mind might immediately go to the fact that it’s an online game played either on PC, Xbox, or a mobile device. But did you know that you could play Roblox on the Oculus Quest VR headset? It’s not available as an official Oculus Quest or Oculus 2 game — though we’re focusing on the latter headset for the purpose of this guide. However, there is a workaround that lets you experience all that the sandbox game has to offer in virtual reality. Here’s how you can play Roblox on Oculus Quest 2.

The most important thing you need to do is make sure that your PC fully supports the use of VR headsets without any issues. Once you know that your PC can handle running VR games, you can play Roblox on your Oculus Quest 2 in either wired or wireless mode.

Playing Roblox in wireless VR mode

“Wireless” is the Oculus Quest 2’s middle name and the reason why VR fans clamor over it. To play in the wireless mode, first, you need to purchase and download an app on the Oculus Quest Store. The app is called Virtual Desktop and is priced at $19.99. Then, you need to download and install the free companion PC app, connect your headset by entering your Oculus username, and then you can access PCVR games on the Virtual Desktop menu through your headset or manually from your computer.

Playing Roblox in wired VR mode

If you want to use the Quest 2 to play Roblox the old-fashioned way — with wires — your best bet is to use Oculus Link. To do this, go to Roblox to download the official PC client. Then visit the Oculus website and do the same thing for the Oculus desktop app. Once you’ve done both of these steps, plug in your Quest 2 headset to your PC via a USB-C cable. You can use the cable that came with the headset or almost any other USB-C cable. Just practice safety and try not to accidentally pull the plug and knock your PC over as you move around.

Compatibility issues

There are a few potential issues that you might run into when trying to play Roblox in VR mode, both wireless and wired.

  1. A specific Roblox game doesn’t support VR: it is possible that the Roblox game you’re trying to run doesn’t support VR at all. As such, it can’t be run on your Oculus device (or any other VR set). The best practice is to first check if the game you want to play supports VR, before attempting to connect it.
  2. Expired Roblox Version: make sure to keep your Roblox client up to date. If it’s an older version, it might run into issues when connecting to VR, so make sure to update your Roblox game first.
  3. SteamVR: if you still have issues with VR, you might want to give the free app SteamVR a shot. It has a wide compatibility range, which means that it could help with running Roblox as well.
