Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin was launched as a console and Epic Game Store exclusive title. Games released exclusively on the Epic Game Store tend to become available on Steam a year later, which tracks with Stranger of Paradise’s release on Steam. The title originally launched on March 18, 2022, but it will finally release on Steam on April 6. Square Enix also announced that the game will be sold at a permanently discounted price of $40/£35, down from its $60/£50 launch price.

Three extra Missions were included in the game post-launch: Trials of the Dragon King, Wanderer of the Rift, and Different Future. Trials of the Dragon King features Jack facing off against the original Warriors of Light from the classic version of Final Fantasy I and the Dragon King Bahamut. Different Future has Jack and friends encounter the main antagonist from Final Fantasy II, The Emperor, ending with a potential tease of a Stranger of Paradise sequel that will likely not come to fruition.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is a spin-off title of the prestige RPG series by Square Enix. The game was developed by Team Ninja and featured the same hack-and-slash combat style seen in other Team Ninja games like Nioh. Stranger of Paradise is about Jack, who wears modern clothes but finds himself in the fantastical world of the first Final Fantasy game. He teams up with similar people like himself, with their only goal being to stop Chaos, no matter the cost.
