How to get a Mystery Box in Pokémon Go

The Mystery Box is a unique item you can acquire every so often in Pokémon Go. The item does not release very often, so you want to make sure you can go out of your way to find it when it does become available. When you open up the Mystery Box, the mythical Pokémon Meltan can appear inside of it, and there’s a chance you can catch a shiny version. However, Mystery Boxes don’t become release for every Pokémon Go player. You will need to go out of your way to find it. Here’s what you need to know about how to get a Mystery Box in Pokémon Go.
How to find Mystery Boxes to catch Meltan in Pokémon Go
There are two methods for you to obtain Mystery Box in Pokémon Go. The first method is to send any Pokémon from your Pokémon Go game to your Nintendo Switch, to your copy of Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! games. This does mean giving up your Pokémon from your mobile game to these games, but it should reward you with a Mystery Box.

The other method is sending a Pokémon from Pokémon Go to your Pokémon Home account. Similar to sending it to any of the Let’s Go games, sending a Pokémon from Pokémon Go to any of these formats is permanent, and you won’t be able to undo this process. We recommend sending any of your liked Pokémon or ones you’ve recently captured in the wild.
Once you’ve sent your Pokémon to your Pokémon Home or your Pokémon: Let’s Go games, a Mystery Box will appear on your Pokémon Go account. These only happen during certain events, with the latest event being the Let’s Go! during the Rising Heroes season, from March 21 to 29 in your local time zone. You should be able to send a Pokémon to any of these accounts and receive a Mystery Box every three days. If you do it on the first day of the event, you should receive a Meltan every three days.
