Assassin’s Creed Valhalla received title update 1.1.1 yesterday. Among a plethora of bug fixes included in the update is a key feature that will extend the time you play for immensely. That is time-limited challenges.

How to check time-limited challenges

The first thing you need to do is make sure that you’ve updated Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Once you’ve done that and are into the game, you’ll want to load your current save file.

Once you’re back to Saxon England, it’s time to open the menu. Press the start button and then the left directional button to access the main in-game menu again.

In this menu, you must select the Ubisoft Connect entry. This will open the app as usual. Since you’re in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the app should automatically take you to the correct menu. You can choose to view stats and more here, but it’s the challenges you want to look at.

Before title update 1.1.1, there were only basic challenges in this section. However, if you now check the tab for time-limited challenges, you should see the five or so entries.

This week the requirements for these challenges are far more accessible. They include getting five kills with a light shield, performing one assassination, and executing a single enemy. Each one offers Opals, but the number varies.

As you’d expect, easier challenges award fewer Opals, and harder ones dump a good chunk of Opals into your pocket.

How to participate in time-limited challenges

As long as you’ve connected Ubisoft Connect to your game, you’ll be able to participate in the challenges automatically. There’s no need to open the app every time you play. The game tracks your progress automatically.

When you think you’ve completed a challenge, you can open the app and claim all the rewards you’re owed. The Opals will be automatically added to your stash. There’s no in-game prompt to indicate that they have, but we’ve confirmed this in our testing.

What are time-limited challenges?

Challenges have been a part of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla since it launched. You can check them through the in-game Ubisoft Connect app. The award experience and Opals for completing certain actions in the game. However, these challenges have requirements that you won’t meet until about halfway through the game, such as killing 500 enemies.

Time-limited challenges are different because they’re short-term goals that refresh every week. They also only award you with Opals, which you can spend with Reda for exclusive in-game items you’d have had to grind through contracts for otherwise.

Be sure to check in on the time-limited challenges each week so that you get the most out of the game. Even if you’ve finished the story and are mopping up collectibles, completing these challenges will make for a slightly more engaging experience.
