All January 2023 Field Research tasks and rewards in Pokémon Go

Every month, players receive various Field Research tasks when visiting PokéStops and Gyms while playing Pokémon Go. These tasks give players a simple activity in the game and, upon completing it, provide them with a reward. These rewards and tasks rotate each month, allowing trainers to encounter a specific Pokémon. So if you’re on the hunt for a certain one, you’ll be able to find one without having to find one in a particular region. This guide covers all January 2023 Field Research tasks and their reward in Pokémon Go.

Every January 2023 Field Research task and reward

Here are all the field research tasks you can complete in January 2023. These will be available alongside any happening during the weekly Pokémon Go events, which also come with a handful of exclusive Field Research tasks and rewards.

• Battle in a Battle League match – Marill encounter
• Catch a Dragon-type Pokémon – Dratini encounter
• Catch five Electric-type Pokémon – Flaffy encounter
• Catch five Pokémon – Jigglypuff or Clefairy encounter
• Catch five Pokémon with a Weather Boost – Poliwag, Hippopotas, Snover, or Vulpix encounter
• Catch seven Pokémon – Magikarp encounter
• Catch three Shadow Pokémon – Purrloin encounter
• Earn three candies walking with your buddyStunfisk encounter
• Earn three hearts with your buddy – Buneary encounter
• Earn two candies walking with your buddy – Bunnelby encounter
• Evolve a Pokémon – Eevee encounter
• Give your buddy three treats – Snubbull encounter
• Hatch an egg – Togedemaur or Mantine encounter
• Hatch two eggs – Beldum encounter
• Make an Excellent Throw – Emolga encounter

• Power up Pokémon five times – Chickorita, Cyndaquil, or a Totodile encounter
• Power up Pokémon seven times – Treecko, Torchic, or a Mudkip encounter
• Power up Pokémon three times – Bulbasaur, Charmander, or a Squirtle encounter
• Send five gifts and add a sticker to each – Plusle or Minun encounter
• Spin five Pokéstops or Gyms – Ralts encounter
• Spin three PokéStops or Gyms – Sudowoodo encounter
• Take a snapshot of a wild Pokémon – Hoppip, Yanma, or a Murkrow encounter
• Take five snapshots of wild Pokémon – Sudowoodo encounter
• Trade a Pokémon – Dedenne encounter
• Use five berries to help catch Pokémon – Bunnelby encounter
• Win a raid – Mawile encounter
• Win a three-star raid – Omanyte or a Kabuto encounter
• Win five raids – Aerodactyl encounter

By completing one of these tasks every day in January 2023, you’ll unlock the research breakthrough Pokémon of the month after you complete seven in a row. For January 2023, you might receive Galarian Mr. Mime, Bagon, Goomy, a Delibird, Deino, or a Furfruo encounter.
