Following the 1.07 update for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, tons of players spotted maybe the strangest bug in franchise history. On Xbox One and Series X/S, in-game menus have been urging users that they no longer have access to Black Ops Cold War because their “Blackout Trial has ended.”

If you are also witnessing this, there is a fix – and no, you will not need to download former Black Ops 4 battle royale mode, Blackout.

Where to fix the error

At the time of writing, there is no official update that will permanently fix this incredibly trippy error. Though, there is one process your console will need to undergo for, at least, temporary access to the game.

The problem appears to be with the game’s inability to read which add-ons you have installed. So, first check and ensure that all essential add-ons for the game are downloaded. On all Xbox consoles, this can be done through the “Manage Game and Add-Ons” menu in the Xbox Dashboard.

If the console states you have less than six add-ons installed, you’ll need to check off any missing pieces of content and download them. Once complete, restart the console and open Black Ops Cold War. If done correctly, the error should be no more.

If the issue persists, even after being able to play for a short time, you may need to delete and re-install all of the add-ons.
