Her team will be different from when she used them last month, and they come with new challenges for you to take down This guide covers Sierra’s Pokemon weaknesses and the best Pokemon you can use to counter them in Pokemon Go for the June 2023 event.

How to beat Rocket Leader Sierra in Pokemon Go

You will need to acquire a Rocket Radar to find Sierra. This means battling at least six Team Rocket Grunts to receive six Mysterious Components. Once you have all six, a Rocket Radar will be available that you can activate. You might not encounter her at a captured Team Rocket PokeStop; instead, you might find one of the two other leaders, Arlo or Cliff.

All of Sierra’s Pokemon in Pokemon Go

These are all of the Pokemon that Sierra might use when battling you in Pokemon Go. It’s important to note that the first Pokemon will always be the same, and it’s the shadow Pokemon you rescue after defeating her. The second and third Pokemon switch out, so it’s important to be flexible and prepare your team accordingly based on the Pokemon Sierra uses during your fight.

Sierra’s First Pokemon in Pokemon GO

The first Pokemon Sierra will use against you is Geodude, a Rock and Ground-type Pokemon, it will be weak against Fighting, Grass, Ground, Ice, Steel, and Water-type moves. Geodude will be the easiest Pokemon to take down on Sierra’s team in Pokemon Go. I recommend bringing a Water or Grass-type Pokemon to make short work of it.

Sierra’s Second Pokemon in Pokemon Go

For Sierra’s second Pokemon, she can use a Gardevoir, Sableye, or Steelix in Pokemon Go. Gardevoir is a Psychic and Fairy-type Pokemon, weak to Ghost, Poison, and Steel-type moves. Sabeleye is a Dark and Ghost-type Pokemon, only weak to Fairy-type moves. Finally, we have Steelix, a Ground and Steel-type Pokemon weak to Fighting, Fire, Ground, or Water-type moves.

Sierra’s team is likely one of the toughest to beat of the three Team Rocket leaders in Pokemon Go. None of these Pokemon share any weaknesses, except for Gardevoir and Sableye’s Ghost-type weakness. My best recommendation is to try to lean into this and use a Ghost-type Pokemon to counter these two, such as Gholdengo, Gengar, Roserade, Metagross, Darkrai, Giratina, Lunala, or Trevenant.

Steelix will be extremely tough to defeat, so if you can get a Pokemon with a Fighting or Fire move, prepare it to counter Steelix for Sierra’s second Pokemon.

Sierra’s Third Pokemon in Pokemon Go

The final Pokemon Sierra can use against you can be Houndoom, Gyarados, or Victreebel in Pokemon Go. Houndoom is a Dark and Fire-type Pokemon weak to Fire, Flying, Ice, and Psychic-type moves. Gyarados is a Water and Flying-type Pokemon weak to only Electric or Rock-type moves. The final Pokemon is Victreebel, a Grass and Poison-type Pokemon weak to Fire, Flying, Ice, and Psychic-type moves.

This final matchup is easier to contain than the previous one. Houndoom and Victreebel share similar weaknesses, since they’re both weak to Flying, Ice, and Psychic-type moves. Unfortunately, Gyarados is the wild card, only weak to Electric and Rock-type moves, but we can lean into Houndoom and Victreebel’s weaknesses here. The best Pokemon I consider using for this final battle will be Latios, Exeggutor, Gardevoir, Espeon, Tapu Lele, Mewtwo, Rhyperior, or Groudon in Pokemon Go.

After defeating Sierra, you’ll have the chance to capture a shadow Geodude. There is a chance for you to catch a shiny version of this Pokemon in Pokemon Go.
