If you’re hunting the Team Rocket leaders, make sure you have a Rocket Radar in your inventory, which you can obtain after defeating six Team Rocket grunts and grabbing their Mysterious Components. Once you have the Rocket Radar equipped, visit any captured Team Rocket PokeStop or a Rocket Balloon for a chance to find Arlo. You might also encounter Cliff or Sierra when looking for Team Rocket leaders.

All of Arlo’s Pokemon in Pokemon Go

These are all the Pokemon Arlo can use against you in Pokemon Go. The first Pokemon will also be the same, but the second and third options have the chance to be different, with three unique options to pick from.

Arlo’s First Pokemon

The first Pokemon Arlo will use against you will be Aipom, a Normal-type Pokemon. It will be weak against Fighting-type Pokemon, which makes it a relatively easy encounter for you to counter against. You shouldn’t expect too much trouble from this battle, but there are two more Pokemon that Arlo is going to use against you.

Arlo’s Second Pokemon

The second Pokemon Arlo can use against will either be Alakazam, Mismagius, and Sharpedo. Alakazam is a Psychic-type Pokemon, weak against Bug, Dark, and Ghost-type moves. Mismagius is a Ghost-type Pokemon weak against Dark and Ghost-type moves. The final Pokemon, Sharpedo, is a Water and Dark-type Pokemon, weak to Bug, Electric, Fairy, Fighting, and Grass-type moves.

Unfortunately, these three Pokemon do not share too many of the same weaknesses. Alakazam and Mismagius are weak against Dark and Ghost-type moves, whereas Alakazam and Sharpedo are weak against Bug-type moves. Between these choices, I recommend finding a Pokemon capable of using Dark and Bug-type moves, potentially a Water-type that can unleash Dark or Bug-type moves to counter Alazakam and Mismagius and hold their own against Sharpedo.

My preferred recommendation for this matchup is to use Pheromosa, Yveltal, Bisharp, Zarude, Yanmega, or Trevenant.

Arlo’s Third Pokemon

The final Pokemon Arlo will use against you is Scizor, Magnezone, or Snorlax. Scizor is a Steel and Bug-type and is only weak against Fire-type attacks. Magnezone is an Electric and Steel-type Pokemon, weak against Fighting, Fire, and Ground-type moves, primarily Ground-types. Finally, we have Snorlax, a Normal-type weak against Fighting-type moves.

Similar to the previous team, none of them share any weaknesses. My best recommendation is to go with a Pokemon capable of using Fire and Fighting-type moves, such as Blaziken, who can hit the weaknesses of all three of these Pokemon. Unfortunately, Snorlax will be the toughest combatant given how much health and defense it has in combat, making it the toughest opponent. I think most players are better off preparing to use a Pokemon with Fighting-type moves to counter this opponent.

After defeating Arlo, you’ll have a chance to catch a shadow Aipom at the end of the battle. We can confirm that there is a chance this could appear as a shiny version.
