How to Beat and Capture Terrakion in Pokémon GO
Terrakion is a Fighting and Rock-type Legendary Pokémon from the Unova region and is available now in Pokémon GO. Like all Legendary Pokémon that appear in Raid Battles, Terrakion only appears in five-star Raids, making it difficult to defeat and catch.
Beating Terrakion
After finding a Raid Battle featuring Terrakion as its Raid Boss, you’ll have to defeat it in battle before getting the opportunity to try to catch it. Because it is challenging, you should only attempt it with a good number of teammates, at least 10 to 15, if not more. You’ll gain strength bonuses for teaming up with people on your friend list, so bring along some friends, if you can.
When choosing which Pokémon you’ll use in the battle, there are a few things to keep in mind. First off, given how strong Terrakion is, you should only use Pokémon with CP of at least 2,000, ideally closer to 2,500 or even higher. Remember that Terrakion is a Fighting- and Rock-type, making it weak to Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground, Psychic, Steel, and Fairy moves. Meanwhile, it is resistant to Normal, Fire, Poison, Bug, Rock, and Dark moves.
If you happen to have Mewtwo, Lugia, Groudon, Kyogre, Dialga, or Palkia, those would be perfect additions to your party when taking on Terrakion. If you lack in Legendaries, some other good Pokémon include Metagross, Garchomp, Rhyperior, and Gyarados.
Catching Terrakion
If you and your teammates manage to defeat Terrakion, then you’ll have the chance to try to catch it. Based on your performance in battle, you’ll receive several Premier Balls. You’ll only be allowed to use these Premier Balls when attempting to catch this Legendary Pokémon, and not any of your Poké, Great, or Ultra Balls.
Since the number of Premier Balls you receive comes from your battle performance there are a few things you can do to try to maximize how many Premier Balls you get. For one thing, merely putting up a good fight with your strongest Pokémon, dealing as much damage as possible, will net you some Premier Balls. You’ll also get some if you team up with friends from your friend list, or members of your color team when taking on Terrakion in battle.
As far as catching Terrakion goes, it works just like any other Pokémon. You throw your Premier Balls, trying to get them to land inside the circle to increase your chance of catching it. However, Terrakion will likely move around the screen a lot more than most Pokémon, making it a difficult target to hit. Plus, even if you manage to hit Terrakion dead-on with a Premier Ball, its incredibly low catch rate will make it very likely to break out of your Premier Ball anyway.
To increase your chances of catching Terrakion a little, you can use a Golden Razz Berry to increase its catch rate. Regular Razz Berries will also raise its catch rate a little, but Golden Razz Berries will help out a lot more. However, even with this increase, Terrakion’s catch rate will still be meager. Expect it to break out of most, if not all, of the Premier Balls you throw at it.
There’s an excellent chance that even if you do everything correctly, Terrakion will still manage to elude capture. If this happens, you’ll have to find another Raid Battle featuring the Legendary Pokémon and try again with another Raid Pass.
