How to Get Shiny Pokémon Using Masuda Method Egg Breeding in Sword and Shield

Currently, to get Shiny Pokemon, you can do chaining by battling the same type of Pokemon over and over to increase your percentage chance of getting a Shiny. The Masuda Method revolves around the breeding of two Pokemon of the same species and egg groups, but different genders, and from different regions. Not regions within the game, but regions within the actual world. The method will also work with Ditto and Starters.

As an example, you can breed an English Pikachu with a Pikachu of the opposite gender from Japan, and this will increase the chances of that Pokemon being a Shiny. The Pokemon that you are breeding with must have a different “original language,” while at least one of them must have the same original language as the region in which you purchased your game. The reason this works is that the game will recognize both Pokemon having differing languages, and will then attempt to find personality values for the offspring Pokemon that results in a Shiny.

This method will also stack with the Shiny Charm. The standard chance of getting a Shiny falls between 1 in 2000 or 1 in 4000. By completing your Pokedex and getting a Shiny Charm, the chances can drop to between 1 in 600 and 1 in 1000. So, still challenging to get, but more acceptable than without it. So, if you are serious about getting some Shiny Pokemon, it is time to start making some trades with other Trainers all around the world.

One of the best ways to do this is with a foreign language Ditto. Ditto can breed with any Pokemon, so having a foreign language Ditto means you will not need to worry about getting any other foreign language Pokemon.
