With just a few weeks to go until the game’s release, Activision has revealed the official minimum and recommended specs for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The final specs are mostly similar to what was required to run the game’s beta, with a few minor changes.

There’s not much that’s too surprising in the list, with most of the minimum and recommended specs for Modern Warfare both falling pretty much in line with the requirements for most current games. However, there is one jaw-dropping detail: Modern Warfare will take up a staggering 175 GB of hard drive space. That’s even more than the already massive 150 GB demanded by Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC, and more than three times the size of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Here’s the full list of specs to peruse while you decide what you can clear from your hard drive to make space:

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare minimum specs

  • OS: Windows 7 SP1 64-bit or Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i3-4340 or AMD FX-6300
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670/NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or AMD Radeon HD 7950
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Storage Space: 175GB
  • DirectX 12.0

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare recommended specs

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2500k or AMD Ryzen R5 1600X
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970/NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon R9 390/AMD Radeon RX 580
  • RAM: 12GB
  • Storage Space: 175GB
  • DirectX 12.0

Aside from the amount of hard drive real estate Modern Warfare will be claiming, the rest of its specs are honestly easier to meet than expected. While a top-of-the-line graphics card will surely make things look a bit nicer, even the recommended cards are a couple of years old, some of them even verging on the budget territory. One odd detail is the recommended RAM requirement. Most graphics-intensive games these days ask for 16 GB of RAM, but Modern Warfare only needs 12 GB. It’s especially strange since RAM is most commonly sold in 8 GB or 16 GB sticks these days, making a system with 12 GB harder to come by than one with 16 GB.

Despite its quirks, it’s good to see that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare won’t need a supercomputer to run. You can even take the money you’ll save, meeting its friendly system requirements and buy a new hard drive to install it on. And if you still don’t have a computer quite powerful enough to run it, there’s always Call of Duty: Mobile, playable on PC.
